Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Log into your dashboard at app.adacertify.io and click Image ALT in the left navigation menu.
-
If the page list is empty, it means no pages have been added to this feature yet. Click the Add Pages button at the top right of the Image ALT screen.
-
In the input field, type your full page URL including https:// and press Enter. Add each page you want to scan one at a time. You can add up to 50 pages depending on your plan.
-
After adding pages, click Save, then click Scan Pages. The scan typically takes 1 to 3 minutes per page.
-
Once the scan completes, the Image ALT screen will display each page alongside a list of images found and their ALT status — green for pass, red for missing or empty ALT text.
-
Click any flagged image to see its location on the page, suggested ALT text, and the code snippet you need to add to your HTML or CMS to fix it.
Common Questions
Why does clicking Add Pages not save anything?
Make sure the URL you enter starts with https:// and does not have a trailing slash mismatch with your actual site. After typing the URL, press Enter before clicking Save — otherwise the field value may not register.
Will the widget automatically add ALT text to images?
The ADAcertify widget applies automated ALT text suggestions for decorative and simple images in real time. However, for images with meaningful content, you should manually add descriptive ALT text using the guidance in the scan report, since automated suggestions may not accurately describe complex images.
Do I need to re-scan every time I publish new images?
Yes. Run a new scan from the Image ALT dashboard whenever you add significant new content or images. Monthly re-scans are recommended for active sites.
Troubleshooting
Scan runs but shows 0 images found: This usually means the page is JavaScript-rendered and images load after the initial HTML. Try submitting the page to Manual Audit instead — it uses a headless browser that executes JavaScript before scanning.
Pages added but scan button is greyed out: Your plan may have reached its scan limit for the billing period. Check Account > Subscription Usage to see your remaining scan credits.
✅ Pro Tip: Use the Image ALT tool as a discovery mechanism, then review each result and write descriptions that would make sense read aloud by a screen reader. Automated suggestions are a starting point — meaningful images need human-written descriptions.
