Accessibility Audits vs Accessibility Monitor — What Each Does and What to Expect

Two Different Tools, Two Different Purposes

ADAcertify has two scanning tools in the left navigation. Understanding the difference helps you get the right results without confusion.

Accessibility Monitor — Continuous Automated Scanning

  1. Log into app.adacertify.io and click Accessibility Monitor in the left navigation.

  2. Enter your website URL in the search bar at the top of the page and click Monitor.

  3. The scan runs automatically and shows your domain in the Recent Data table with your compliance score, number of errors, and a View Report link.

  4. Toggle Auto Scan on for any domain to keep it monitored continuously — new violations are flagged as they appear without you needing to trigger scans manually.

Accessibility Audits — Human-Reviewed Audit Request

  1. Click Accessibility Audits in the left navigation.

  2. This section is where you request a manual audit — a deeper review conducted by the ADAcertify compliance team. It is not an automated scan. Think of it as submitting a job to a human expert.

  3. Click Contact Us or the audit request button on the page. Provide your website URL, a description of what you need audited, and any specific concerns (PDFs, custom web apps, government contract requirements, etc.).

  4. Timeline: Human-reviewed audits take up to 7 business days to complete. You will receive an email when your report is ready — the wait is normal and does not indicate a problem.

  5. Your completed audit report will be delivered via email and will list all violations with severity levels, specific code locations, and remediation instructions.

When to Use Each Tool

Use Accessibility Monitor when: you want ongoing automated scanning, a real-time compliance score, or a quick check of your site’s current state.

Request an Accessibility Audit when: you need a human-verified compliance report for legal documentation, a government contract (VPAT), a client deliverable, or when your site has complex custom components that automated tools cannot fully evaluate.

Common Questions

Is the Accessibility Audit the same as the Monitor scan?
No. The Monitor is fully automated — it runs instantly and updates continuously. The Audit is a manual human review that takes up to 7 business days and produces formal compliance documentation.

My audit request has been pending for more than 7 days — what do I do?
Contact support@adacertify.io with your submission details and the date you submitted. The team will follow up within one business day.

Can I get a certified compliance report from the Monitor?
The Monitor gives you a compliance score and error report. For a formally certified audit report suitable for legal or government use, you need to request an Accessibility Audit.

Troubleshooting

Monitor shows “In Progress” for a long time: Large sites with many pages take longer to scan. Check back after 30 minutes. If still running after an hour, contact support with your domain URL.

Pro Tip: Request an Accessibility Audit right after onboarding a new client. The human-reviewed report shows exactly what was found before any remediation — making your value visible and measurable to the client.
